The new Minister of Ports takes office and pledges to strengthen maritime security
Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport in the Federal Government of Somalia, has officially assumed his duties.
In his speech after assuming office, the minister pledged to enhance security in Somali coastal waters, modernize the country's ports, and develop its infrastructure with the aim of promoting maritime trade.
During the handover ceremony in Mogadishu, Nour stressed the strategic importance of Somalia's ports and their economic potential, noting that they represent a major logistical center in the Horn of Africa region.
On March 17, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Berri announced the appointment of Abdelkader Mohamed Nour as Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport in a cabinet reshuffle that included five ministerial portfolios, including the Ministry of Defense.
