President Hassan Sheikh extends an invitation to his Ugandan counterpart to visit Somalia
On Saturday, the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a meeting with his Ugandan counterpart, Yoweri Museveni, during his official visit to Uganda.
During the meeting, the two presidents praised the deep bilateral relations and close cooperation between their countries, and discussed the security situation in the region, stressing the need to maintain stability in the Horn of Africa.
The Presidents of Somalia and Uganda welcomed the launch of the new African Union Mission to Support the Stabilization of Somalia operation, and stressed the need to accelerate international support to implement the Somali security development plan and enhance the capabilities of the Somali army.
The two presidents discussed the defense cooperation agreement signed between the two countries and directed the relevant institutions to accelerate its implementation. President Hassan Sheikh thanked his Ugandan counterpart Museveni for the warm welcome he and his delegation received.
President Hassan Sheikh invited the Ugandan president to visit the Somali capital, Mogadishu. Museveni accepted the invitation and expressed his willingness to visit Somalia in the near future.
