 The Scientific Research Authority for Heritage and Culture in Benadir Governorate organizes an iftar in Mogadishu

The Scientific Research Authority for Heritage and Culture in Banadir Governorate organized an iftar banquet that brought together an elite group of researchers and intellectuals, along with prominent government officials, including the Deputy Governor of Banadir, and the Mayor of Mogadishu Municipality for Political and Security Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Diri, in addition to representatives of Parliament, religious scholars, and politicians.

The Chairman of the Authority, Mr. Abdullahi Sheikh Nour (Khader), during his speech at the event, confirmed that the Authority, as a distinguished government institution, seeks to enhance scientific research in the fields of cultural heritage, protect local history, and preserve the cultural identity of the Somali people. He also pointed out that the Authority focuses on conducting in-depth research into heritage and history, organizing scientific workshops, and enhancing community awareness of the importance of culture, as well as building cultural partnerships at the local and international levels.

The banquet witnessed the presentation of three research papers that addressed pivotal issues related to security and development in Mogadishu, where the panel reviewed the book “Drug Addiction in Mogadishu,” which discusses the negative effects of drugs on security and stability, and proposes practical solutions to confront them. The study, “Manifestations of Waste in Mogadishu: Causes, Effects, and Solutions,” also addressed the problem of waste and its environmental impact, in addition to ways to address it to improve the environmental situation in the capital.

The third research, entitled “Mogadishu, Capital of Hope and Progress,” highlighted ways to enhance security and economic and social recovery, stressing the need for collective action to achieve a prosperous and sustainable future for the capital.

The officials participating in the banquet praised this research initiative, considering it an important step towards developing Mogadishu to keep pace with major global cities and contribute to achieving a comprehensive development renaissance.
