Newly elected Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali
The newly elected Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Yusuf, arrived in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, today, on his first official visit since taking office in February 2025.
Youssef and his accompanying delegation were received at the airport by Somali Deputy Prime Minister, Salih Ahmed Jama, along with senior officials of the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia.
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission is scheduled to hold high-level talks with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, where discussions are expected to focus on enhancing cooperation between the African Union and Somalia in the areas of security and development, as well as other issues related to regional stability and current challenges in Somalia.
