Apple to make its AI technology available to developers
Apple said Monday evening that it will make its core artificial intelligence technology available to developers and announced a comprehensive overhaul of its operating systems.
The tone and content of presentations at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference focused more on incremental developments, including real-time translation of phone calls, that improve daily life rather than the sweeping AI ambitions promoted by Apple's competitors.
Apple's senior software executive, Craig Federighi, said the company will make the foundational AI model it uses in some of its own features available to third-party developers.
Apple's senior vice president of software engineering added, "This work took more time to reach a high level of quality."
