Ronaldo ends rumors about his future with Saudi club Al-Nassr
Media reports indicate that Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has ended rumors about his future, stating that he will continue playing for the Saudi club Al-Nassr.
Several reports quoted Ronaldo as saying, after leading Portugal to the UEFA Nations League title in Munich, "Nothing will change. Playing for Al-Nassr? Yes."
Ronaldo, 40, joined Al-Nassr in 2023 after a dispute with coach Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. His current contract expires on June 30.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino recently indicated that Ronaldo could move to a team that has qualified for the Club World Cup. Ronaldo confirmed the talks last Saturday, but said he would not participate in the tournament being held in the United States.
Portugal defeated Spain 5-3 on penalties on Sunday, securing Ronaldo and his teammates their third title. They also won Euro 2016 and the 2019 UEFA Nations League.
"I have many titles, but there is nothing better than winning with the national team," said Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
Ronaldo scored the equalizer in the 61st minute, which sent the match to penalties, but left the field in the 88th minute, apparently with a thigh injury. He also scored the winner in Portugal's 2-1 semifinal victory over Germany last Wednesday.
His goals against Germany and Spain took his tally to 138 goals in 221 international appearances, both of which are world records in men's football.
