Egyptian player signs with Liverpool.. Get to know Karim Ahmed

After years of remarkable brilliance for Egyptian star Mohamed Salah with Liverpool, a new Egyptian name has emerged at Anfield today, with young midfielder Karim Ahmed signing his first professional contract with the prestigious English club.

Liverpool announced on Wednesday via its official website that 18-year-old Egyptian player Karim Ahmed has signed a professional contract, without revealing details of its duration, a move that confirms confidence in his rising talent.

Who is Karim Ahmed?

Karim was born in England to Egyptian parents and progressed through the youth ranks at Liverpool's academy. Last season, he played for the Under-18 team, scoring seven goals and providing five assists, drawing attention to his talent early on.

Karim first gained attention in the 2022 season when he scored on his Under-18 debut against Bournemouth in the FA Youth Cup. Karim will spend the 2025-26 season with Liverpool's Under-21 team, marking a significant step towards the first team.

International Loyalty to Egypt

Karim holds both British and Egyptian citizenship, allowing him to play internationally for either national team. However, he has previously expressed his preference for representing Egypt, having joined the U-20 national team camp for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Algeria earlier this year. Karim is the second Egyptian player currently in the Liverpool Academy, alongside Alvin Ayman, indicating the expanding Egyptian presence at the club.
