Mogadishu - The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a fruitful meeting today at the Presidential Palace in Djibouti with the President of the Republic of Djibouti, Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh.

The meeting focused on strengthening the strategic relationship between the two governments and peoples. The two presidents discussed the importance of Djibouti's full cooperation with Somalia, particularly in the areas of security and counterterrorism, as well as supporting the stabilization process and building Somali government institutions. 

The meeting also discussed the humanitarian situation resulting from the drought affecting parts of the country, particularly the Awdal region. President Hassan Sheikh called on the government of Djibouti to play an active role in providing relief and support to drought-affected communities in the region.

During the meeting, the two presidents exchanged views on the general situation in the Horn of Africa region, stressing the need for close cooperation and regular consultations based on mutual interests.
