Mogadishu – The Minister of Internal Security in the Federal Government of Somalia, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail "Fartaj," held a private meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu. The two officials discussed various aspects of security and cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, China announced its commitment to assisting Somalia in combating the threat of landmines, as part of a broader initiative to strengthen security measures within the country.

Ambassador Wang Yu revealed that China will allocate $1 million for mine clearance efforts and community awareness campaigns. This funding aims to mitigate the risks associated with landmines, which continue to pose a significant threat to the safety of Somali citizens.

For his part, the Minister of Security said, "We appreciate the Chinese government's support in demining and equipping security forces, noting that this partnership will enhance the security of Somalia and the safety of its citizens."

Minister Fartag expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for its continued support to Somalia, particularly in areas such as demining, equipping security forces, and enhancing law enforcement capabilities.
