Foreign Minister Receives British Ambassador to Somalia

Mogadishu – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Abdisalam Abdi Ali, received the newly appointed British Ambassador to Somalia, His Excellency Charles King, in Mogadishu.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in the areas of security, politics, and development. They also discussed the ongoing security transition process in Somalia and the crucial role the United Kingdom plays in supporting the new African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), which replaced the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

Both sides agreed on the importance of continued UK support for peacekeeping forces, particularly in countering Al-Shabaab and promoting comprehensive national stability.

Finally, the meeting affirmed the mutual commitment between the two countries to deepening diplomatic cooperation and advancing shared goals in the areas of security, governance, and sustainable development.
