Internal Security Minister Meets AU Special Envoy on Security and Counterterrorism Efforts

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Internal Security Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Gen. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), today received the African Union’s Special Envoy to Somalia, Ambassador El Hadji Ibrahima Diene, along with a delegation at the Ministry’s headquarters.

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Internal Security Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Gen. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), today received the African Union’s Special Envoy to Somalia, Ambassador El Hadji Ibrahima Diene, along with a delegation at the Ministry’s headquarters.

The delegation, which included senior officials from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), discussed Somalia’s overall political situation, security challenges, and ongoing counterterrorism operations.

During the meeting, the AU Special Envoy commended the Somali government’s efforts to liberate areas held by Al-Shabaab militants, highlighting recent successful operations that have restored security and stability in previously affected regions.
