Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembélé won the Ballon d'Or for the world's best player at the France Football magazine's The Best awards ceremony, held on Monday at a prestigious theater in Paris.
Everyone held their breath before former Brazil , Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain star Ronaldinho revealed the winner between Dembele and Yamal.
The French international winger snatched the award from Lamine Yamal , who also won the Copa Award for the best young player in the world for the second consecutive time during the same ceremony.
Liverpool and Egypt winger Mohamed Salah came in fourth place, behind Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha, who finished third.
France Football magazine revealed the rankings of the top ten players competing for the prestigious award, with Portugal's Vitinha coming in third, followed by Egypt's Mohamed Salah in fourth, and Barcelona's Brazilian Rafinha in fifth.
Moroccan Achraf Hakimi , the right-back of Paris Saint-Germain, came in sixth place, followed by Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé in seventh place, then Chelsea player Cole Palmer in eighth place, Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma, the goalkeeper of Manchester City who transferred from Paris Saint-Germain, in ninth place, then Portuguese Nuno Mendes, the left-back of Paris Saint-Germain, in tenth place.
On the women's side, Aitana Bonmati, star of Barcelona and the Spanish national team , won the Golden Ball award for the best female football player in the world for the third consecutive time.
Bonmati received the award from former Barcelona and Spain star Andres Iniesta , whom the Spanish player described as her role model and from whom she had always learned a lot.
The Barcelona star beat her compatriot Mariona Caldente, the Arsenal player , while Alessia Russo, another Arsenal player, came in third, followed by Alexia Putellas (Barcelona) in fourth place, and Chloe Kelly (Arsenal) in fifth place.
Patricia Guijarro (Barcelona) finished sixth, followed by Leah Williamson (Arsenal) in seventh, Eva Payor (Barcelona) in eighth, Lucy Bronze (Chelsea) in ninth, and Hannah Hampton ( Chelsea ) completed the top ten.
