The Cabinet discusses security and drought and approves international memoranda of understanding.
The Cabinet held its weekly meeting today, discussing national security issues, drought relief efforts, and the recent operations conducted by the Somali National Army to secure new areas. Reports on modernizing the government system and expediting service delivery to citizens were also reviewed.The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, and several agreements and decrees were adopted, including:
- A Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of Somalia and Pakistan on the Exemption from Diplomatic Visas.
- A Memorandum of Understanding between Somalia and Russia in the Health Sector.
- A Memorandum of Understanding on Reviewing Cooperation among African States.
- The 1965 Convention on the Facilitation of International Maritime Navigation.
- A Memorandum of Understanding between Somalia and Spain on Political Consultations and Related Regulatory Decrees.
- Agreement between Somalia and the International Atomic Energy Agency for the implementation of safeguards related to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, with its annexes.
- United Nations Convention against Illicit Trade in Psychotropic and Psychotropic Substances of 1988.
- Unified Performance Management Policy for State Entities.
- Organizational Decree for the Authority for the Care of Orphans, Persons with Disabilities, and Retired Members of the Somali National Army.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Council unanimously approved the promotion of two diplomatic officials, Mr. Adam Ishaq Ali and Mr. Abdifatah Sheikh Ahmed Abdiman, to the rank of Ambassador.
