The Prime Minister receives the new UNICEF representative in Somalia
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre received Ms. Sandra Latoff, the newly appointed UNICEF Representative in Somalia, at his office today. Prime Minister Hamza briefed Ms. Latoff on the achievements of the Government of National Unity, noting that Somalia has entered a phase of reform and institution-building, particularly through the National Transformation Plan 2025–2029 (NTP), which serves as the main framework guiding the country's development priorities.The Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to UNICEF for its support in the areas of education, health, child nutrition, and the implementation of programs to deliver clean water to the most vulnerable groups, especially in drought-affected areas.
For her part, Ms. Sandra Latuff affirmed her commitment to supporting the Somali Federal Government and strengthening cooperation between UNICEF and the government, and contributing to supporting basic services for the community, especially in the areas of child health and immunization, combating malnutrition, developing education, and increasing access to clean water and sanitation services.
