Google announced the lists of the most popular searches in the Middle East and North Africa region in 2022 on the search engine. The lists showed that "the price of the dollar against the pound" ranked first in the search in Egypt, while the "climate conference" hosted by the city of Sharm el-Sheikh came in second place, and the song "Ghazala Raika" from the movie (For Zico) was at the top of the list of entertainment.

In the UAE, the 2022 FIFA World Cup topped the search lists, followed by the electronic game "Wordle", while Queen Elizabeth II was the most searched person. In Saudi Arabia, the smart education platform "Madrasati" topped the list of searches, followed by "Noor System" to monitor the behavior and attendance of students in the school electronically. The media, Sherine Abu Aqelah, was among the most searched personalities.

"The lists were compiled by looking at the topics and questions that generated the most interest from people compared to last year," Google said in a statement. She added, "More than two-thirds of people in the Middle East and North Africa region rely on search to follow the news, with 74 percent in the UAE, 62 percent in Saudi Arabia, and 68 percent in Egypt."
