Somalia asks the UAE to support efforts to restore stability to the liberated areas

 The Chairman of the Somali Disaster Management Authority, Mr. Mohamed Maalim Abdullah, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Somalia, His Excellency Ahmed Juma Al Rumaithi. The meeting discussed the UAE’s support for efforts to restore stability to the liberated areas, and enhancing the aid the UAE provides to Somalia.

The two parties agreed on the importance of urgently responding to humanitarian needs in areas liberated from terrorists, preparing for the El Niño phenomenon, and the UAE government intensifying its efforts to finance resilience and recovery projects.

The head of the Somali Disaster Management Authority also discussed with the ambassador the UAE’s assistance to the Authority in facilitating meetings with its counterparts in the world at the United Nations Climate Change Conference hosted by the UAE.

Ambassador Ahmed Juma Al Rumaithi promised to implement what was agreed upon, and stated that the UAE government has financing plans that contribute to flexibility in adapting to climate change.
