The president of Galmudug state in central Somalia, Ahmed Abdi Kariya “Qor Qor,” and two members of the federal parliament came from an assassination attempt in Mudug region on Friday.
This came after a car bomb driven by an Al-Shabaab suicide bomber targeted the “Las Gami” area in the Mudug region, where officials arrived to activate the war against Al-Shabaab fighters to expel them from the region. Injured in the accident were Senator Abdi Hassan Awale Qabdid, and a representative in the People's Assembly, Abdel Salam Haj, who indicated that he suffered a minor injury.
The president of Galmudug, Qorqur, survived the incident in which soldiers among his guards were killed and others were injured. The president stated that the attack failed, stressing the continuation of military operations against Al-Shabaab, and expressed his hope for the victory of the Somali army over the fighters.
