Somalia nominates MP Fawzia Yusuf Haji to head the African Union Commission
The Somali Federal Government has nominated MP Fawzia Yusuf Haji for the position of Chairperson of the African Union Commission for the period 2025-2028.The government indicated that the aim of nominating Representative Fawzia is to strengthen her role in international and regional organizations, and to represent the country in the global arena.
Fawzia Yusuf Haji Adam previously served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia from November 2012 to January 2014, and in 2022 she was the first Somali woman to participate in the country's presidential race.
