 The Minister of Communications and Technology of the Federal Government of Somalia, His Excellency Jama Hassan Khalif, officially opened the Data Protection Authority. The Minister praised the timely efforts made to provide strong legal frameworks governing data privacy issues, stressing the government's readiness to correct years of neglect.

The launch ceremony was attended by officials, including ministers, representatives, and representatives of civil society organizations, who witnessed the major step taken by the government.

Ferdousa Othman Agal, Minister of Transport and Aviation, who spoke at the ceremony, confirmed that her ministry deals with different types of data and expressed her readiness to cooperate with the newly established Data Protection Authority.

The Director General of the Data Protection Agency, Mohamed Royal, gave his welcome speech at the official launch ceremony, where he warmly welcomed the distinguished guests. He provided detailed insights into the agency's mandate and critical responsibilities.
