President Hassan Sheikh offers condolences to the UAE officers killed in the accident
The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, sent his condolences to the people and government of the sisterly United Arab Emirates regarding the officers killed in a terrorist attack that occurred at a training camp in Mogadishu.President Mahmoud said: “To God we belong and to Him we shall return. I send my heartfelt condolences to the government and people of the United Arab Emirates on the death of the officers who came to Mogadishu to help train the army so that they can liberate the country.”
The president added: “We strongly condemn this heinous act that claimed the lives of these officers who dedicated their time and lives to liberating our country and rebuilding our forces. We will not allow this cowardly act to deter us from our path towards peace and stability.” He said: “I order the security forces to conduct investigations into the incident and I pledge to prosecute everyone found guilty to the fullest extent of the law.”
President Mahmoud praised the UAE for its continued support in the reconstruction and development of Somalia, and said that the Somali people will always remember the role that the UAE played in supporting their country in this difficult time. He explained that the UAE government is a close ally of Somalia and that it has always supported his country’s progress.
The UAE Ministry of Defense announced the martyrdom of 3 members of the UAE Armed Forces and an officer from the Bahrain Defense Force, and the injury of 2 others as a result of being exposed to a terrorist act in the sisterly Republic of Somalia, while performing their work duties in training and qualifying the Somali Armed Forces, which falls within the bilateral agreement between the UAE and the Republic of Somalia. Somalia within the framework of military cooperation between the two countries.
The ministry said in a statement: “The Ministry of Defense extends its sincere condolences to the families of the martyrs, asking God Almighty to bestow His mercy on them, and also expresses its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.” The Ministry reports that the UAE continues to coordinate and cooperate with the Somali government in investigating the sinful terrorist act.”
