 The United States has promised to spend $100 million on new military bases, with the goal of the Somali army taking over responsibility for the country's security from AMISOM by the end of the year.

This came during a meeting between Somali Defense Minister Abdelkader Mohamed Nour and the Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy, ​​Shane Dixon, in which they discussed strengthening efforts to combat terrorism and enhance national security.

The United States of America recently concluded a security agreement with the Somali government to build Somali forces capable of assuming responsibility for security and the war against Al-Shabaab.
