The National Army carries out operations against Al-Shabaab in Hiran province

 The Somali National Army, in cooperation with local militias, carried out operations against Al-Shabaab in areas in Hiran region, Hirshabelle state. The commander of the 27th Army Division, Colonel Farah Koshin, indicated that the recent air and ground operations targeted Al-Shabaab sites and inflicted heavy losses on them.

Colonel Cochin called on the residents of the areas where the operations are taking place to support the military efforts, stressing the importance of teamwork in the war against Al-Shabaab.

“Cooperation between government forces and local communities in Hirshabelle has achieved significant progress in combating the Al-Shabaab threat, as preparations are underway for the second phase of the operation,” the commander said.

It should be noted that most areas of Hirshabelle state have been liberated from Al-Shabaab fighters, but the militants still pose a threat to the security of the state as they are stationed in the western regions of Hiran region in Hirshabelle.
