President Hassan Sheikh holds discussions with his Kenyan counterpart
Somali President, Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, visited the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on May 18, 2024. This is his third visit to the neighboring country within one month. The visit confirms the growing cooperation between Somalia and Kenya, with a focus on peace, security and economic cooperation.Kenyan President William Ruto received President Mahmoud at the presidential headquarters in Nairobi, and the two leaders held discussions that focused on enhancing peace and security in the Horn of Africa region and exploring areas of cooperation in trade and investment.
The visit comes amid renewed efforts to strengthen diplomatic and security partnerships in the region between the two countries to confront the overlapping challenges of extremist violence, political instability, and humanitarian crises that the two countries are going through.
