The President of Hirshabelle State meets with officials from the US Embassy in Somalia
On Tuesday, the President of Hirshabelle State, Ali Godlay Hussein, met with officials from the US Embassy in Somalia at the headquarters of the African Union Transitional Mission in the city of Johor, the state capital.Goodlawi held talks with American officials about a military base for the Somali Special Forces, known as “Dunb,” that Washington intends to build in Hirshabelle. The Hirshabelle chief handed over a plot of land to officials, noting that building a special forces base in his state would contribute to the ongoing war against Al-Shabaab in Hirshabelle and other states in the country.
The President stated that his administration is preparing for the second phase of the war against Al-Shabaab, which is expected to begin soon across the country. The Somali government had concluded an agreement with the United States under which 5 bases would be built for the “Denb” forces, which America would train and equip in various regional states in Somalia.
