The head of the Somali Disaster Management Agency meets with the UAE Ambassador to Somalia

 The head of the Somali Disaster Management Agency, Mr. Mahmoud Maalim Abdullahi, met today, Thursday, with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Ahmed Juma Al Rumaithi, at the embassy headquarters in Mogadishu.

The meeting focused on preparations for spring rains to reduce the risks that may be caused by floods resulting from rain, and to enhance and follow up on the requests that the agency submitted to the embassy.

The meeting touched on the completion of the “Sapon” Dam project in the city of “Jawhar”, the capital of Hirshabelle State, to which the UAE has committed, and also touched on facilitating the transfer of donations provided by the UAE and their delivery to the regions of Bay, Bakool and Gedo.

The head of the agency handed over a certificate of appreciation to His Excellency Ambassador Al-Rumaithi, for his tireless work with the agency in drought and floods and reaching areas liberated from Al-Shabaab. Muallem explained the approval of the agency’s requests to provide new aid from the UAE through the ports of Mogadishu, Kismayo, Berbera and Bosaso, indicating that this will be responded to quickly.
