President receives James Swan, discusses UNSOM transition

 The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, on Monday received the Acting Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, James Swan, at the Presidential Palace. 

The discussion focused on the transition of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) and the crucial role of the United Nations in stabilization efforts in Somalia. The President reiterated Somalia’s commitment to working closely with international partners, ensuring a smooth transition, and enhancing security through coordinated support.

He also stressed the importance of consolidating progress in line with Somalia's long-term security and development goals, as well as the country's active role in the international community as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
