Somali Ambassador to Serbia Mohamed Abdullahi Ahmed announced that Somali students will benefit from the aviation training program in Belgrade. The Ambassador made the statement after a visit to the Lynx Aviation School in Belgrade on Wednesday to discuss opportunities for Somali youth to receive aviation training.

Ambassador Ahmed said: “Serbia will provide a unique opportunity for young people in Somalia. This cooperation will ensure a bright future for many young people and contribute significantly to the development of the aviation sector in Somalia.” Ahmed held talks and signed the agreement with Captain Mladen Petkovic, owner and head of Lynx Aviation School, which will provide Somali students with theoretical and practical aviation training.

Theoretical lessons will be conducted at the school's headquarters in New Belgrade while practical training will take place at Lesicje Jarac and Nikola Tesla airports, using the school's fleet of 10 aircraft. All programs are fully compliant with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) flight crew licensing standards, ensuring students achieve internationally recognized qualifications.

Linx Aviation will also offer flight instructor certification programs, increasing opportunities for Somali youth in the aviation sector. For his part, Captain Petkovic stressed the high standards of training, adding that Air Transport Pilot License (ATPL) classes can be completed within six months under normal circumstances.
