The Prime Minister visits Baidoa

Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre visited Baidoa, the temporary capital of South West State, on Wednesday. Sources reported that the Prime Minister's visit to the city aims to address issues resulting from the federal government's plan to withdraw Ethiopian forces from the country by the end of this year.

The Prime Minister, who was accompanied by the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency, Abdullah Mohamed Ali (Sanbululshi), was received at the city's Shati Jadud Airport by the President of the South West State, Abdelaziz Hassan Mohamed Leftagrin.

Both the states of South West and Jubbaland recently opposed the federal government’s decision regarding the withdrawal of Ethiopian forces from Somalia, which is scheduled to take place after the end of the African Union mission in Somalia “ATMIS” in December 2024.
