On Saturday, the Prime Minister of Somalia, Mr. Hamza Abdi Barre, held discussions in Cairo with his Egyptian counterpart, Mr. Mustafa Madbouly, that focused on strengthening historical relations and cooperation between the two countries.
The discussions touched on issues of security, development, trade, and cooperation in various fields. The Somali Prime Minister stressed the importance of the relationship with Egypt and cooperation with it in the security aspect and confronting risks in the region and challenges from extremist groups. Hamza praised the support that Egypt provides to Somalia, especially in the field of education.
For his part, Egyptian Prime Minister Madbouly stressed that supporting Somalia remains Egypt's top priority, stressing the commitment to helping Somalia maintain its sovereignty. Madbouly said, “Egypt stands firmly with Somalia in preserving its unity and territorial integrity.”
Madbouly proposed organizing a business forum in Somalia to enhance cooperation between Egyptian and Somali entrepreneurs, especially in the field of agriculture, where Somalia, with its rich livestock and fish resources, could become a major supplier to the Egyptian market.
“We are ready to export any goods or merchandise that Somalia needs,” Madbouly said. We will do our best to facilitate the entry of these goods and merchandise to meet the needs of the Somali people.”
