Jubaland Transport and Aviation Minister Warns Planes Against Landing in Ras Kamboni Town
Abdulle Dabad Shiel, the Minister of Transport and Aviation in the Jubaland Regional Government, has warned airlines against flying to Ras Kamboni town in Lower Juba Region. The statement ordered airlines to adhere to the warning to preserve the safety of the Somali people and their property, noting that any company that does not heed the warning will be held responsible for its actions. In a statement issued by his office, the minister sent a stern warning to airlines, saying: “The Jubaland government warns all airlines operating in Somalia against landing at Ras Kamboni Airport. There is a serious conflict situation in that area, which could pose a serious threat to security.”
It is worth noting that the Somali government forces have recently taken the town of Ras Kamboni, near the Kenyan border, as a base, which has led to the defection of many Jubaland soldiers and their joining of the federal forces in that town, which has raised concerns for the regional administration, which is engaged in a bitter struggle against the Somali government.
