Somalia and Egypt commit to strategic partnership
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E Ambassador Ahmed Moallem Faqi, held high-level discussions with H.E Mr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in Cairo. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring avenues for mutual cooperation, with an emphasis on elevating relations to a strategic partnership.The two brotherly countries agreed to enhance trade and economic cooperation through the Somali-Egyptian Forum, scheduled to be held in Cairo in January 2025. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Faki, praised Egypt's effective role in supporting state-building efforts in Somalia and its firm commitment to protecting Somalia's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
The Somali Minister affirmed his country's commitment to all agreements concluded with Egypt, stressing the importance of continuing cooperation for regional stability and development.
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Badr Abdel Aati affirmed Egypt's steadfast support for Somalia's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, in line with international law. He stressed Egypt's ongoing efforts to support the Somali government and its institutions while fostering a stronger and more sustainable partnership between the two countries.
