The President of Somalia heads to the UAE on an unannounced visit
The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia left the country on Monday for the United Arab Emirates on an unannounced visit, weeks after the UAE waived its debts owed to Somalia.
The President is accompanied on this visit by a number of Somali government ministers and members of Parliament, according to informed sources.
During his visit, President Mahmoud is expected to meet with senior Emirati officials to discuss ways to enhance Emirati support for Somalia in confronting the terrorist Al-Shabaab movement, in addition to enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
