Somalia and Azerbaijan sign a memorandum of understanding to enhance agricultural cooperation
The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of the Federal Government of Somalia, His Excellency Mohamed Abdi Haer “Marieh”, signed a memorandum of understanding with His Excellency Majnun Mammadov, Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The agreement focuses on key areas, including sector development, exchange of best agricultural practices, innovation and technology transfer, trade facilitation, and investment in arable land in Somalia.
It also includes provisions related to agricultural scholarships for Somali students, joint research initiatives, and the implementation of climate change-resistant irrigation systems.
The two ministers also explored the possibility of using artificial intelligence in agriculture, representing a strategic step towards innovation-based partnerships, and consolidating agricultural-diplomatic relations between the two countries.
