The Mogadishu Municipality announced the toll of human and material losses as a result of the heavy rains that the capital witnessed on Friday evening, as the floods resulted in the deaths of seven people, including two women, in addition to the complete destruction of nine homes in different areas of the city.
The report issued by the municipality indicated that about 200 families were affected as a result of the floods that swept through several districts, which led to the displacement of many residents and damage to their property. The rains also destroyed six main roads, obstructing movement within the capital.
She called on the local authorities to provide urgent assistance to those affected, and pledged to work to repair the damaged infrastructure to avoid worsening the humanitarian situation in Mogadishu.
