Governor of Banadir Lays Foundation Stone for Sheikh Osman Hidig School
Mogadishu – The Governor of Banadir Province and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein Monggabe, on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a private primary school for girls named "Sheikh Osman Hidig" in the Gubadle district of the capital, Mogadishu. The school commemorates the memory of the late Somali preacher and scholar, Sheikh Osman Hidig, who was known for his voluntary service in the fields of advocacy and education.
In a speech delivered at the occasion, Dr. Monggabe emphasized his administration's determination to work to develop and improve the quality of education in Banadir Province, noting his administration's particular encouragement of Somali girls' education and raising their educational standards. Dr. Monggabe praised the role of the people of Gubadle and their contribution to the self-reliance of their district.
Dr. Monggabe called on the residents of Gubadle, in particular, and the residents of the capital, Mogadishu, in general, to head to the registration centers in preparation for their participation in the local council elections and those who represent them in the administration of their districts, urging them to take advantage of this opportunity.
The laying of the foundation stone for the Sheikh Osman Hadag Primary School project in Gubadle District is one of several educational projects Dr. Mongabe laid in recent days, fulfilling his pledge to develop the education system in Banadir Governorate.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by a number of officials, including Federal Parliament Member Osman Hadule, Deputy Governor of Banadir Governorate for Security and Political Affairs Mohamed Ahmed Dirieh, Director of the Governor's Office Mohamed Abdullahi Tali, and Head of Gubadle District Abdullahi Kalmi.
