Morocco Expresses Interest in Hosting the 2029 Club World Cup

Media reports indicated on Tuesday that Morocco has expressed its interest in hosting the 2029 Club World Cup, after FIFA opened the door for bids to host the tournament.

The Spanish newspaper Marca reported that FIFA has opened the door for bids to host the 2029 Club World Cup, noting that Spain was the first country to officially notify FIFA of its interest in hosting this major football event, the current edition of which is being held in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025.

The newspaper added that Brazil was the second country to express interest in hosting the tournament, having announced through official channels its intention to bid, especially in light of the amendments introduced by FIFA to the tournament's regulations.

Recently, Morocco entered the fray unilaterally, expressing its desire to host the 2029 Club World Cup.

The source indicated that Moroccan authorities have already begun exploring the necessary steps and how to submit a comprehensive bid within the specified deadlines.

Morocco has previously hosted the Club World Cup twice in a row, in 2013 and 2014. Bayern Munich won the 2013 edition, while Real Madrid won the 2014 edition.

Morocco is expected to host several major football tournaments, including the Africa Cup of Nations in late 2025 and the 2030 World Cup, co-hosted by Spain and Portugal.

  2. With Spain and Brazil also in the race, the competition will be tough—but Morocco has proven itself a strong candidate. Hosting the 2029 Club World Cup would be a huge boost for the region and a chance to further showcase Africa’s growing role in global football.
