Somalia: National Consultative Council Meeting Postponed
Mogadishu – The Federal Government announced today that a meeting of the Somali National Consultative Council, originally scheduled for June 22, has been postponed to July 15, in preparation for the country's Independence Week celebrations.
In an official statement, the government said: "In recognition of the significance of Independence Week and in preparation for its commemoration, the National Consultative Council meeting – previously scheduled for June 22 by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud – has been rescheduled to July 15, 2025, God willing."
The council meeting, which was expected to bring together leaders of Somalia's federal states, the Banadir Regional Administration, and the federal government, aims to address critical national issues, including elections, constitutional reform, and relations between the Somali government and regional governments.
