Marcus Rashford will become only the second English player in 100 years to play for Barcelona's first team. According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, upon signing for Barcelona's first team, Rashford will become only the second English player to wear the shirt after Gary Winston Lineker.

Lineker left Barcelona in the summer of 1989 after three seasons with the club. The top scorer in the 1986 World Cup, Lineker moved to Barcelona from Everton in 1986 and scored 52 goals in 139 official matches for the club, in addition to six goals in 11 friendly matches.

Marcus McGowan, who played for Barcelona's reserve team between 2018 and 2020, is the first English player to make a senior appearance since Gary Lineker's departure. McGowan, who currently plays for English club Bristol City, participated in a match in the Catalan Super Cup.

Earlier, Mundo Deportivo reported that Manchester United striker Rashford arrived at Barcelona's training facilities on Monday morning to undergo a medical ahead of the official announcement of his loan deal. Rashford is expected to sign a contract with Barcelona on Wednesday evening, according to Mundo Deportivo.
