Deputy Foreign Minister Meets German Ambassador to Somalia
Mogadishu – The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, His Excellency Issaq Mohamud Mursal, met on Wednesday with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Somalia, His Excellency Sebastian Groth, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and consolidate the long-standing friendship between the two countries.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister welcomed Germany’s continued commitment to Somalia’s development and stability, particularly its renewed support for the “Security and Risk Management in Somalia” project. This important initiative is in line with the established technical cooperation frameworks agreed upon in 1979 and 2017.
The two sides explored additional avenues for cooperation in areas including security sector reform, institution building, and economic development. Ambassador Groth reiterated Germany’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s efforts to achieve lasting peace and resilience.
The two sides agreed that the relationship between Somalia and Germany represents a cornerstone of international cooperation, built on mutual respect, shared goals, and historical diplomatic relations.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to strengthen bilateral relations and continue working together to address regional and global challenges.
