Moroccan international Yassine Bounou, goalkeeper for Saudi club Al-Hilal, has been selected among the nominees for the Lev Yashin Award for the best goalkeeper in the world, as part of the nominations for the Ballon d'Or ceremony.
The official Ballon d'Or account on the X platform announced the nominees in various categories on Thursday, including the Best Goalkeeper category. The list includes Bounou and nine other prominent figures in the world of football.
The list includes, alongside Bono, Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma of Paris Saint-Germain, Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois of Real Madrid, Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa, and Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker of Liverpool.
Along with French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier of Lille, Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid, Spanish goalkeeper David Raya of Arsenal, Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer of Inter Milan, and Belgian goalkeeper Mats Sels of Nottingham Forest.
Bono has performed exceptionally well with Al-Hilal, particularly during their participation in the Club World Cup.
The Ballon d'Or ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 22, according to France Football magazine, the organizer of the event.
