English football club Chelsea have announced the appointment of Liam Rosenior as their new manager on a contract that runs until 2032.
Rossino , 41, revealed earlier on Tuesday, during a farewell press conference for French club Strasbourg , that he had "verbally agreed" to replace Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge.
The British news agency PA Media reported that the deal was completed quickly, with the manager returning to English football after previous stints managing Derby and Hull.
"I am very humbled and extremely proud to be appointed as the manager of Chelsea Football Club," Rossinior said on the club's official website.
He added: "This is a club with a unique spirit and a long history of winning titles. My job is to preserve this identity and build a team that reflects these values in every game we play, as we continue to win titles."
He affirmed: "Being entrusted with this role means a great deal to me, and I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this opportunity and gave me the confidence to perform this task. I will do everything in my power to achieve the success that this club deserves."
Rossinior became Chelsea's fourth permanent manager since the club was acquired by Pluco in 2022. The company also owns Strasbourg.
Chelsea have moved quickly since parting ways with Maresca, who left abruptly after his relationship with the management deteriorated on New Year's Day.
Club officials were unhappy after he spoke with Manchester City officials about the possibility of succeeding Josep Guardiola at the end of the season, and tried to use this as leverage in negotiations to renew his contract.
There were also disagreements about the extent of his authority to disregard the medical staff's advice when bringing players back to the team after recovering from injuries.
Chelsea have assembled a large group of young players with limited top-level experience, and the new manager is expected to make good use of them, something Maresca often seemed unhappy about when rotation destabilized the team.
Rossignol achieved success with a similar young team at Strasbourg, leading them to a seventh-place finish in Ligue 1 last season and guiding them to the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League.
"There are certain moments in your life where you are forced to make a decision that you cannot refuse," Rossignol said at his press conference with Strasbourg.
He added: "For me, Strasbourg is a club I will love for the rest of my life. But this is an opportunity I cannot refuse for several reasons."
He emphasized: "I want to clarify, I am here (at the press conference) because I care about this club and I believe it was necessary to answer your questions personally before I move on to the next stage of my career."
He explained: "The truth is that Strasbourg is not at the same level as Chelsea. There are some clubs you simply cannot refuse. I hope the fans can see that."
It is also expected that Rossenor's assistant staff will join Chelsea, namely Cisse's successor, Ben Warner, and Justin Walker.
