Somalia's first ambassador to Finland presents his credentials
The Somali Ambassador to Sweden, Abdikarim Ahmed Mohamed, presented his credentials to the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, this week. This significant step was warmly welcomed by the Somali community, as it is expected to facilitate Somali citizens' access to various embassy services.The arrival of the Somali Ambassador in Finland marks the beginning of a new era for the Somali community, enabling smoother interaction with the embassy and thus removing many obstacles that Somali citizens previously faced. During a formal ceremony, President Stubb officially received the Ambassador's credentials, a first for Somalia in Finland.
The Somali Community Association held a reception for the ambassador at its headquarters, where Ambassador Abdulkarim addressed community leaders, including tribal elders, youth, academics, and some members of local councils from Helsinki and Vantaa.
Abderahman Rage, head of the Somali Community Unit, described the appointment as a historic achievement. Rage stated, “The President’s acceptance of the credentials of a Somali ambassador is a significant accomplishment that will finally facilitate access to services for Somalis living here.”
Somalis residing in Finland view this appointment as a major success for the entire Somali community in the country. This development is seen as a new opportunity to strengthen relations between the two countries and enhance community cooperation.
