 The head of Somalia's Independent Human Rights Commission, Mariam Qasim, met today with the UNICEF representative in the country, Sandra Latuff, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in protecting children's rights.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of developing national mechanisms for child welfare and ensuring the protection of children's rights, thereby contributing to a stronger national protection system.

For her part, the UNICEF representative expressed the organization's readiness to support national institutions, thereby strengthening efforts to protect children and consolidate the principle of accountability.

In turn, the head of the commission emphasized her organization's commitment to promoting children's rights, stressing the need to translate this into practical steps that go beyond theoretical frameworks and pledges.
