Somalia and the United Nations discuss strengthening the strategic partnership and supporting national priorities.

 The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Hamza Hado, met with the UN Under-Secretary-General and Director of the Disaster Management Unit at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ms. Shoko Noda, to discuss ways to strengthen the strategic partnership and support Somalia's national priorities.

The meeting addressed mechanisms for joint coordination in the areas of development, electoral processes, and humanitarian response, as well as addressing the internally displaced persons (IDP) crisis and the repercussions of the ongoing drought. Emphasis was placed on the need to accelerate government-led efforts to support the most vulnerable communities and enhance the country's resilience.

For her part, the UN official praised Somalia’s growing role in the UN Security Council and its move to join the East African Community, stressing the program’s commitment to supporting stability and development in the country.
