The Minister of Justice discusses with the European Union support for the justice sector.
The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, His Excellency Hassan Moalim Mahmoud, received the European Union Ambassador and the leadership of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Wednesday to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the justice sector.The meeting focused on supporting the implementation of the Justice Sector Strategy for the period 2025-2029 and expanding access to justice services throughout the country, thereby contributing to strengthening the rule of law and improving justice services for citizens.
The Minister expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the European Union to the justice sector in Somalia, praising the role of the UNDP in implementing the Joint Justice and Reform Programme, which he described as one of the most prominent programs supporting the development of the country's justice system.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and partnership to support institutional reform efforts and enhance the efficiency of judicial services in line with the priorities of the Somali Federal Government.
