Somalia and Egypt pledge to enhance cooperation in the health sector

 The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Dr. Mohamed Elmi Ibrahim, met with the Egyptian Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, on the sidelines of the World Conference on Population, Health and Development, which was held in Cairo from 5 to 8 under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The two ministers discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the field of family planning and reproductive health services, and to benefit from Egypt’s experiences in developing and implementing the National Population and Development Strategy. The strategy was launched, which aims to address the challenges and opportunities of population dynamics.

The two ministers also agreed to expand areas of cooperation in the health sector between their countries, in a way that strengthens the health system and meets the needs of citizens. They reaffirmed the strong relations that have bound Somalia and Egypt for many decades, and expressed their mutual respect and support.
