The President of Puntland appoints a committee to negotiate the electoral issue

The head of the Puntland regional government, Said Abdullahi Deni, has appointed a committee to negotiate the controversial election issue with the opposition. Before appointing the committee, the President of Puntland had spoken for the first time about security concerns in the city of “Growe”, the capital of Puntland, and indicated that those concerns were exaggerated.

The committee, which includes 7 members, is chaired by the Minister of the Interior of the Puntland government, Abdi Farah Said Juha. President Deni said in a statement he issued: He appointed the committee when he saw the need to negotiate electoral matters, based on holding democratic elections to elect representatives and the next president of Puntland.

He stated that parties spread false news on social media sites, causing people to flee their homes, noting that the residents of Puntland are working to calm the situation, and explaining that his government is ready to resolve all differences through dialogue.
