The President meets the Swiss Ambassador to Somalia

 President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud received the Swiss Ambassador to Somalia, Valentin Zellweger, and discussed with him the strengthening of bilateral relations and cooperation within the United Nations Security Council.

Discussions during the meeting, which was held at the presidential palace in Mogadishu, touched on a group of regional and international issues of common interest. The meeting stressed Somalia's commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations and strengthening partnerships with key international stakeholders to confront common challenges and promote peace and stability in the region.

President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud expressed his appreciation for Switzerland’s continued support and participation in peace and development efforts in Somalia. The President stressed the importance of continued cooperation between Somalia and Switzerland “within the framework of the United Nations Security Council to address pressing security concerns and advance conflict resolution initiatives.”

Ambassador Valentin Zellweger stressed Switzerland's commitment to deepening its partnership with Somalia and stressed the importance of dialogue and cooperation in facing regional challenges. He highlighted Switzerland's long-standing commitment to supporting peacebuilding and state-building efforts in Somalia, stressing the need for sustained international solidarity and assistance.
