 A high-level African Union delegation, led by the Head of Peace Support Operations, General Cheikh Dembélé, met with government officials, representatives of troop-contributing countries to the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and international partners in a series of meetings aimed at discussing the mission’s security plans.

The meetings, which took place over several days, focused on important topics such as the withdrawal of the third phase of AMISOM forces and post-withdrawal security plans. On Thursday, the delegation reached out to representatives from AMISOM troop-contributing countries, international partners and officials from the Federal Government of Somalia. To address these key issues.

An important meeting was held on Wednesday when the African Union delegation led by General Cheikh Dembélé met with senior officials of the African mission and representatives of the Swiss and French embassies at the “Atmis” headquarters in Mogadishu. These discussions were instrumental in shaping the dialogue on the Mission's operations and future security strategies.

The delegation's visit to Mogadishu is part of a broader effort to engage with various partners and conduct a joint threat assessment in accordance with the mandate issued by the African Union Peace and Security Commission.
