The President of Somalia receives the credentials of the new American ambassador

 On Friday, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud received the credentials of the newly appointed US ambassador to Somalia, Richard Reilly. For his part, President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud congratulated Ambassador Richard Reilly on his new responsibility, explaining that the Federal Government of Somalia will support him in performing his diplomatic duties.

Ambassador Reilly thanked the Somali government for the warm welcome and presented his plan to strengthen diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two governments. The Somali President also conveyed a message and greetings from United States President Joe Biden.

President Mahmoud also met with General Michael E. Langley, Commander of US Africa Command (AFRICOM), along with Ambassador Reilly, to discuss the situation in Somalia, security cooperation, joint efforts to combat terrorism, and regional stability.
